Silva

I am an alt/Indie artist from Meath, Ireland. I have been writing songs since I was 15, and have only recently gotten around to recording and releasing, with the benefit of time and resources in Covid lockdown.
Silva was originally formed in the 90’s by a group of school friends with a huge love for off-kilter, indie music – and we did pretty well before time and circumstance (college, work, responsibility) killed us. Only in the last 6 months have I had the time and opportunity to reboot things on my own and gotten my passion for making and recording music back.

The music is influenced by the likes of The National, Wilco, Pavement – it is guitar based but features piano, synths, and a few other bits and pieces into the mix in the name of experimentation. I play and record everything myself, and it has been a real upside to lockdown to be able to reconnect with the music, and to get some of the songs recorded and released. Lyrically, I deal with all the usual suspects: regret, hope, longing, anxiety, addiction, travel and other basic human stuff…Hopefully many more songs are to follow as I have a pretty long back catalogue over many years…
